Protein-lipid interactions

We apply high resolution NMR spectroscopy and complementary biochemical and biophysical techniques to investigate the molecular details of ligand binding by fatty acid binding proteins. We aim to answer fundamental questions about lipid translocation and to set the basis for the development of novel synthetic drugs based on lipophilic molecular scaffolds.


Metabolites can be considered the ultimate downstream indicators of perturbations to the normal status of biological systems. We measure NMR metabolic profiles of biofluids and apply multivariate statistical techniques as a tool to investigate functional changes associated with diseases such as cancer.
